JOB SUMMARY

The Production Planning Manager is primarily responsible for analyzing customer demand in backlog, as well as the current monthly sales forecast, in order to construct the master production schedule in order to meet customer on-time delivery requirements. This position uses the company’s ERP Shop Scheduling Software (E2) to execute the production schedule and provides recommendations to the Operations Manager on workforce levels, overtime, and subcontracting requirements in order to maintain customer on-time delivery while maximizing product gross margins. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops the master production schedule for manufacturing of the company’s product line of tools and machines

  • Insures the accuracy of established production sequences of activities and lead times for each operation in order to meet ship dates per customer orders and sales forecasts

  • Insures the accuracy of system-based vendor lead times implemented by Purchasing and provides Purchasing direction on purchased component delivery requirements to maintain the master schedule

  • Analyzes production requirements and plant capacity and performs mathematical calculations to determine the manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements to meet the schedule

  • Plans and schedules workflow for each work center group (i.e. CNC lathes, CNC mills, etc.) according to established manufacturing routings and lead times

  • Responsible for tracking manufacturing work cell workload, providing feedback to Operations and Engineering on in-house vs. sub-contracted manufacturing hours, and providing regular reporting on manufacturing status in order to insure 93% on-time delivery performance

  • Provides recommendations for inventory levels based upon past usage and inventory turnover data in order to support current and forecast demand to meet on-time delivery requirements

  • Additional duties as assigned by manager

 

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Highly professional oral and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented, focused, data driven, and extremely well organized

  • Strong analytical problem solving skills

  • Proficient in MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point)

  • Proficient in the use of ERP manufacturing operating systems

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Four year degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a technical field

  • 5 years production ERP scheduling and routing experience
